Job description
Department: Estate Management
This full time Conference Officer will assist in the creation and implementation of a comprehensive and efficient conference, event, summer school and bed & breakfast activity operation. This will include co-ordinating facilities and services and ensuring all legislative obligations and best practice are met, including
related administration and financial responsibilities.
Applicants will have a good general education, with a hospitality, event or customer related qualification or significant practical knowledge. With accomplished communication and interpersonal skills, the post holder will be a professional and pro-active team member with proven experience of working in a busy customer or hospitality focused environment. Flexible and self-motivated, the successful applicant will take responsibility for the planning, booking and co-ordination of conference facilities and services, working methodically and with excellent attention to detail.
The successful applicant will have customer centred skills, with a positive and helpful attitude as well as being effective in the use of IT, including word processing, databases and spreadsheets, helping to oversee financial processes and developing promotional material. The post holder will also be required to participate in a call out rota and work outside core working hours in support of the Campus and Residential Services operation. The successful candidate will be required to work additional hours to support the Conference activity during the busy summer months and as such TOIL will be accrued and taken outside of the summer months.
This position requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check, which will be undertaken by the University on appointment.
