Web Services Developer
Job description
Would you like to join a small and dynamic team developing, designing and maintaining excellent web services at the University of Chichester? If so, we have a new role which will provide interesting and stimulating work that really makes a difference, in a beautiful campus environment located close to the South Downs National Park and southern coastline.
We
are interested in recruiting a web developer with some experience and looking to progress their skills. Ultimately, you will be technically astute and a good problem solver, with the ability to learn new skills and adapt quickly to emerging ideas, concepts and customer requirements. The post holder will need to have experience with a wide range of web development principles and the ability to develop and maintain web coding in programming environments such as PHP, JavaScript, (JQuery, JSON) and Drupal.
As a member of our team, you will construct and deliver web development projects in collaboration with our technical and customer facing teams. You will need to demonstrate excellent presentation and communication skills which enable you to present in a clear and confident manner to a variety of audiences. Working with our students and staff, you will be responsible for the design and maintenance of excellent web services and will be pivotal in turning a conceptual requirement into a working and technically robust solution.
We are looking for a developer that brings with them an active interest for web coding and ideally experience of working with APIs, understanding of mobile applications, device platforms and a variety of web browsers are also desirable.
Whilst able to work independently, you will also be encouraged to work collaboratively; participating in the development of relevant initiatives across departments, to ensure effective and sustainable delivery of services across the University.
Ideally, the successful candidate will bring experience of using an online Virtual Learning environment (VLE), or will be able to demonstrate the skills needed to play an active role in our forwards web developments. You will also need to be a team member, with an innovative approach to build on new ideas, who brings enthusiasm and a flexible and helpful attitude to work. You will be supported in further technical skills development and professional development.
Informal enquiries are welcomed by Haydn Tarr, Service Development Manager, via email at H.Tarr@chi.ac.uk or telephone 01243 816153.
The University of Chichester welcomes applicants from BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) backgrounds as they are currently under represented at this level.
